When we founded Rogue, we weren’t interested in creating just another cannabis production company,

but rather we dreamt of being leaders in the industry, growing a craft product that only comes from years of experience and knowledge.

In order to make this happen, we had to focus on what’s important.

Landrace Strains

We’re cannabis farmers but also consumers so we enjoy the plethora of strain options that are available to grow and smoke, inclusive of Modern/Hybrid strains, as well as the traditional Landrace strains that paved the way for development of these newer genetics. Although they are similar in a lot of ways, there are some distinct differences between Landrace and Modern/Hybrid strains:

We choose to grow Landrace strains because of their rarity in the market, uniqueness of their effects, and the fact that they can be a complimentary offering to the Canadian consumer, alongside the more readily available Modern/Hybrid strains.

Legacy Growers

The cannabis industry didn’t start out the way we see it today. Historically, the plant was used in cultural ceremonies in various regions of the world where the original Landrace strains trace their roots back to, inclusive of the Middle East, Asia, South America, Africa, Eastern Europe, and the southern part of North America (Mexico).

Word of the exotic nature attributed to foreign Landrace strains became a popular motivation for cannabis farmers and enthusiasts to travel among different regions of the world in search for rare, Landrace genetics that they could bring back to their home country/province.

Legacy Growers are the ones who took on the dangerous adventures to different parts of the world in search of rare Landrace genetics that they could bring home. Some kept them just as they were found, capturing the purity that mother nature created, while others brought back Landrace strains to use for breeding programs, purposed to create new, innovative hybrid genetics. Either way, we have the Legacy Growers to thank, who took it upon themselves to travel to various parts of the world in search of new genetics that have become the foundation for all the strains we see in the market today.

We pay homage to the Legacy Growers from different parts of Canada who are the sources of our Landrace strains and do our part to keep their strains, and legacies alive:

Gold – Legacy Grower (Alberta)

Cambodian – Legacy Grower (Saskatchewan: RIP/From 1955-2021)

Thai – Legacy Grower (Saskatchewan)

Afghani – Legacy Grower (Ontario)

Hindu Kush – Legacy Grower (Manitoba)

Sun Grown

The most natural, abundant, and sustainable light source that can be used to grow any plant is the Sun, and cannabis is no exception. The light spectrum our Landrace strains receive from the Prairie Sun is irreplaceable, particularly the intense UVB that drives cannabinoid (THC/CBD) and terpene (essential oil) development.

We prefer to use the Prairie Sun as the light source for our plants, not only because it is great for the environment, but it also brings out the best in the Landrace Strains we grow. Landrace Strains have been around far longer than the invention of the light bulb, so the plants we grow not only find the sun to be the most familiar light source, but also the preferred one to optimize the flavour and effects that they will produce.

Welcome here!

You must be of legal age for cannabis in your province to continue.
